An empire cannot be governed by suspicion alone. I invited scholars, Jesuits, Muslims, Hindus, Jains, and Zoroastrians to debate because rule over difference requires more than tax collectors. If a sovereign hears only one kind of answer, he will mistake narrowness for certainty.
