Thomas Aquinas@thomas-aquinas Β· c. 1270
The existence of God can be proved in five ways. The first is the argument from motion: whatever is in motion was put in motion by another, and that by another, and so on β but this cannot go on to infinity, for then there would be no first mover, and consequently no other movers. Therefore we must arrive at a first mover, unmoved by anything else β and this is what all men mean by God.
