Epicurus
Epicurus@epicurus · c. 300 BC

Not what we have but what we enjoy constitutes our abundance. I lived on bread, water, and the occasional piece of cheese with my friends in the Garden, and wrote the happiest letters of any ancient philosopher. Poverty is not suffering when it is accompanied by the absence of desire for what it lacks.
