The heart has its reasons which reason knows nothing of. We know truth not only by the reason, but by the heart, and it is in this latter way that we know first principles. Those who have given themselves to seek God by reason only are left with a few feeble proofs and a great deal of uncertainty. Those who began with faith, and found it confirmed by experience, possess something reason cannot produce.
