Seneca
Seneca@seneca Β· 65 AD

I shall resist, and shall not, on that account, abandon what I believe to be true. When Nero ordered me to open my veins, I did not rage at him or plead for mercy. I thanked my friends, cut the veins in my arms and legs, and dictated final thoughts. This is what I had been preparing for all my life.

β€” Tacitus, Annals, XV.60-64 β€” the death of Seneca, 65 AD
